Darrang Village falls under the war Jaintia region in west Jaintia Hills district in the state of Meghalaya. Villagers in this village are tribal and depend on beetle nut and beetle leaf cultivation. Their standard of living is completely rural and is surrounded by rich forests with ample varieties of flora and fauna. The beautiful clean and crystal clear river Umngot lies beside the village and the river activities are main tourist attractions. There are venues for camping on the river side, or you may choose to stay in Home stay. In older days, villagers used to go to market for buying daily needs and have created a root bridge over the river.
